Toenail problems can be very painful and extremely frustrating, especially when they are persistent in nature, but Podiatrists have various preventative measures and treatments available to combat these conditions and to restore nails back to health.
Our toenails often serve as barometers of our health by acting as diagnostic tools providing the initial signal of other medical conditions (such as anaemia or psoriasis). It is, therefore, imperative that we seek advice from a Podiatrist if there is any concern about irregular toenail conditions or pain and discomfort in the nails.
Some common conditions affecting the toenails that we can help with are:
- Ingrown toenails
- Fungal toenails
- Thickened toenails
- Discoloured toenails
- Lifting or split toenails
- Black or blue nail beds (haematoma) caused by injury
Most of the treatments we use are pain free, however if you do have a particularly painful lesion, we are able to use local anaesthetic to numb the area. This will help us to treat the painful area and keep you comfortable while doing so.
If you are experiencing discomfort from a toenail condition and would like the help of one of our Podiatrists to resolve it, give us a call on 9894 2463 or book online to make an appointment.
