Kinesiology taping is a form of taping that was first developed in the 1970s, which can aid both muscle tightness and muscle weakness and also joint instability.  The team at NSTT are trained in the application of kinesiology tape to help switch off or inhibit overactive muscles, to improve biomechanics by decreasing unwanted movement, over-flexible or weak joints and to encourage strengthening and muscle contraction in muscles that are under-active.

Kinesiology taping is very popular with athletes because it's application doesn't restrict movement and they often don't notice the tape apart from increasing function.  It also comes in very fashionable colours making it quite on trend for athletes!

Kinesio Taping

If you are experiencing any of the conditions below, kinesiology taping may be beneficial for you:

Our kinesio tape of choice is RockTape as we believe it is the most superior product in terms of stretch and durability.  RockTape can be purchased at the clinic.  Many of our patients and athletes prefer to purchase a roll of RockTape and bring it to be used in their treatments rather than paying a taping fee at each appointment.  Our practitioners are also very happy to teach you how to do your own taping and you are welcome to video record them doing so for your reference later.  In the case where you just need to come into the clinic for taping, rather than a treatment as such, there are 15 minute soft tissue therapy appointments available.

If you think you could benefit from kinesio taping, give us a call on 9894 2463 or book online to make an appointment.
